There’s something special about the freelance community — the hustle, the late-night Slack pings, the willingness to help each other out when things get tough. And last week? I had one of those moments.
A fellow freelancer reached out in a panic.
They were handling a client’s landing page for Mikaia London, a new jewelry brand that was just about to make their online debut — but things weren’t going according to plan.
⏳ The design was stuck.
🧱 The page wasn’t ready.
😬 And the client was expecting something live ASAP.
The Rescue Mission: A Coming Soon Page That Worked
With time running out, I stepped in. Instead of jumping straight into a full rebuild, I focused on what was urgently needed:
✅ A clean, on-brand landing page
✅ A temporary hosted solution
✅ And a “Coming Soon” section that looked intentional, not rushed
So I did just that.
In less than a day, I:
Built a fully responsive landing page for Mikaia London
Matched the brand’s elegant aesthetic with soft serif fonts, gold accents, and high-resolution jewelry visuals
Set up temporary hosting while the main site gets finalized
Added an email capture form to help Mikaia start building a waitlist before launch
A Simple Page That Carried Real Weight
This wasn’t just about putting something online.
It was about keeping trust alive between client and freelancer.
About showing that even a minimalist “Coming Soon” page — when done right — can carry the weight of an entire brand’s first impression.
And honestly? There’s something quietly powerful about that.
One of Those Stories You Just Had to Capture
There was something about this whole situation — the urgency, the challenge, the solution — that made me hit record while working on it. I figured… one day, this might be a cool story to look back on.
Turns out, it was more than just “cool.”
It was something a lot of freelancers will probably recognize when they see it.
